Serving Calgary, Airdrie, and the surrounding area, I am a Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner, an accredited dog trainer through the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants and vice president of the Alberta Force Free Alliance. Offering only humane and ethical teaching methods for both animal and human learners, I am committed to providing quality care and unmatched customer service.
I started learning about dog training and behaviour after I adopted my dog Ryder. After trying more traditional methods and seeing little success, I started learning about more modern methods to deal with Ryders fear and reactivity and haven't looked back. Since then I have expanded my knowledge and skill set by attending schools, taking courses, attending seminars and conferences, and even volunteer to train some farm animals, I am constantly working to strengthen my skills so that I may serve my clients and their dogs better.
Unity Training and Behaviour offers a variety of training options including, group classes, day training, private training as well as virtual consultations. If you are unsure which is the best option for you, please to hesitate to reach out here.
Did you know that dog training (and pet animal training in general) is an unregulated industry? That means anyone and their dog (pun totally intended) can start a business, call themselves a dog trainer, behaviorist or behaviouralist and go out there and "teach" you and your dog. Credentials are important. Through the application and study of over 50 years of science backed research, modern dog training has moved away from punishement and alpha theory based training, which has been shown to be detrimental to a dogs mental and physical wellbeing, and turned towards methods rooted in ethology, postive reinforcement, and relatioinship based techniques. The goal of Unity Training and Behaviour is to help improve the lives of both the guardian and the animals in their care using only the most up to date and humane training methods available.
Bob crushed it! He took it in stride that my 90 pound baby was a complete and utter wild child...the only “stranger” brave enough to interact with my very mouthy boy and not run away in fear. He gave it to me straight, was kind, easy going and extremely generous with his time — he genuinely cared about us — Bob gave us lots of perspective and truly was instrumental in helping me and Bud shake out the kinks in our relationship!! My quality of life has improved and we are able to coexist now.
As an owner of 3 dogs varying in size and temperament I'm always looking for advice on how to
better understand them. Bob listens to your dogs needs and will help you address them, while working on you and your relationship with your dog. He has supplied me with countless reading
materials and online groups to look into as well. He is patient and knowledgeable, and dogs love him! Whenever I have reached out for assistance, he was quick to respond and help me out over and
above what I was expecting. We are so thankful to have Bob as a part of our resource kit when raising our dogs.
10 out of 10 would recommend you call him if you and your dog need assistance. You truly will not be disappointed.
Bob’s dedication to helping families and their dog or dogs get on the same page is awesome. right from the moment he showed up at the house he had Kona’s attention and was working with her instantly replaying scenarios of the issues we were having with her. He gave us the knowledge we needed to work with Kona to break her of a bad habit. She has come a long way. Thanks Bob!
